I often forget about the Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market, because it’s so close to me, and it’s tucked away in the north-west corner of Trinity-Bellwoods Park (at Dundas & Shaw) We live only a block or two away, so it’s one of those things that’s so easy to do – it never happens. I put it in my calendar for this week (which is the only way to make sure something happens) and I’m so glad I did.<\/p>\n

The Trinity-Bellwoods Farmers’ Market<\/a> happens every Tuesday between 3pm-7pm.<\/p>\n

JC met me at the statue in the middle of the park. Or rather, I met him, because he got there before I did. As a cookie based reward system we picked up two Oat Fruit cookies from The Local Cafe \/ The Bus Kitchen<\/a>. They also had a vegan quinoa salad, and earlier in the day empanadas! Not all of their products are vegan, but some of them are.<\/p>\n

For me, an easy favourite was Monkton Organic Farm and Bakery<\/a> – we picked up two loaves of bread (Olive loaf as well as a Sundried Tomato & Rosemary) and 5lb bag of freshly milled flour (made from wheat grown on their land). I love the idea of a micro mill. I’ll be watching out for them on future trips to the market. With the obvious exception of challah, most breads were vegan.<\/p>\n

Stasis Preserves<\/a> has become one my favourite local makers of jams, jellies, chutneys, and sauces. We picked up a jar of ketchup and two onion chutneys (one sweet with pear, and one savory with mustard seed) that I’m looking forward to combining with the samosas we bought from Sultan of Samosa<\/a>. I’ve seen him at the St. Lawrence Market, but he has also opened up a storefront on Roncy. (476 Roncesvalles Ave, Toronto, ON).<\/p>\n
