Something was nagging me that I also needed to do, and MeShell reminded me I hadn’t completed my other, much more important task before it’s midnight deadline – writing about my Vegan Swap experience!

I send my goodies off to The Vegan Lisa earlier this month, which I had a great time putting together. I hope she enjoyed receiving it as much as I did it putting it together and sending it. It gave me a chance to explore some unique elements of Vegan cuisine (marshmallows?!), as well as to reach back into my childhood for inspiration.

I was lucky enough to get Jill, better known from the awesome Vegan Cuts. If anyone knows her way around Vegan goodies, it’s Jill. She really out did herself with her package.

I found this waiting for me when I came home from work. A little squish test and it was clearly filled to the brim. No padding here. Opening it and my suspicions were confirmed – veritable cornucopia of Vegan goodies were waiting for me.

I started picking each item out one at a time, but after about 2 minutes, I realized if I did that I would be there forever, and there was eating to be had, so I spread it out over the table to take in all the loveliness. It even attracted EmmieCat had to come by and check out commotion. (Note the Kobo in the background – MeShell was reading Fifty Shades of Grey. Maybe she’ll tell you about it if you ask her!)

Even thought this was my first swap, I quickly found out the best part – things you’ve never even THOUGHT about suddenly appear on your dining room table. Chocolate Peanut Butter Smackers, ExtraVEGANza Peanut Butter Bites, and Go Raw Live Granola Bar, OH MY! Needless to say, these were all amazingly delicious and didn’t last long. MeShell got her hands on the Onion Crunch, but I was able to pry it free, and enjoy them the next day along with the Black Sesame Strips. My favourite was actually the Goldenberries – something I’ve never even heard of, but which were a delightful mix of sweet and tart.

I still have the Chreese, SoyGo, the Hemp Protein and the Salba – we’ll have to find a good home for those, but they all look great.

Thanks again to Jill for a great introduction to Vegan swaps – it definitely won’t be my last!

JC

Sign up for the next one: https://meshell.ca/blog/veganfoodswap/

*** note from MeShell – I hope JC posts more often, he’s actually quite delightful don’t you think? ***

In the grand tradition of leaving things to the last minute, I just finished filing my taxes for last year.
