They&#8217;re stories I want to tell, there are pictures I want to share, and they are memories I want to remember later. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/meshellg\/roadtrip-2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">You can see some of the past &amp; present posts on this lovely map on Pinterest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On one of our last few days we went over to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lomahousevegexpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Loma House<\/a> &#8211; primarily because they were open on a Monday, unlike nearly everyone else, and I&#8217;ve heard good things from local vegos online.\u00a0We were hoping to check out <a href=\"https:\/\/meshell.ca\/blog\/category\/padmanadi\/\">Padmanadi<\/a> on this visit, but sadly it just didn&#8217;t happen.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Construction at 7am in Edmonton Alberta outside the Coast Terrace Inn\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/prairiev\/20171306116\/in\/dateposted-public\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/453\/20171306116_74bdd904bb_z.jpg\" alt=\"Construction at 7am in Edmonton Alberta outside the Coast Terrace Inn\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>I didn&#8217;t particularly enjoy the experience, and so I have been avoiding writing about it &#8211; but that morning we were woken up with the sounds of jackhammers outside of our downtown hotel at 7am. So the mood surrounding the visit wasn&#8217;t high, and\u00a0there are some negative\u00a0factors with my experience and my day. I also don&#8217;t do particularly well with heat, and it was around 30. So, take my thoughts with a grain of salt.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\"><p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CityofEdmonton\">@CityofEdmonton<\/a> I&#8217;m amazed that construction &amp; jackhammers are permitted to begin at 7 am. Can you tell me what the noise rules are in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/YEG?src=hash\">#YEG<\/a>? \u2014 MeShell (@mdgee) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mdgee\/status\/493749203189780480\">July 28, 2014<\/a>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>That said, service was friendly, JC&#8217;s meal looked pretty good. I ordered a big bowl of Hot and Sour soup, which was okay, but not what I was looking for. On a normal day &#8211; I probably would have loved this bowl of soup, though I found it a touch too sour, and not spicy enough (but that&#8217;s normal), and not salty. But I did like most of the stuff in it. The thick broth had diced tofu, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, carrots, and peas in it. I threw in a bunch more chili oil, and that solved most of my tastebud issues.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Loma House - Hot and Sour Soup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/prairiev\/14788608995\/in\/photolist-ouMFkq-owPuea\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5552\/14788608995_d9d51df8fe_z.jpg\" alt=\"Loma House - Hot and Sour Soup\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The soup was big, it was warm, it was sour. \u00a0But then &#8211; JC&#8217;s Bento Box came out and I felt like I had made a bad call. If I ever find myself at Loma House in the future &#8211; I&#8217;m going to get one of these boxes, because from the various bites I stole from his plate, it was great. Especially the broccoli and the dumplings.<a href=\"https:\/\/meshell.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Loma-House-Edmonton-Bento-Box-800by600.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5062\" src=\"https:\/\/meshell.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Loma-House-Edmonton-Bento-Box-800by600.jpeg\" alt=\"Loma House Edmonton Bento Box - 800by600\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/meshell.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Loma-House-Edmonton-Bento-Box-800by600.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/meshell.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Loma-House-Edmonton-Bento-Box-800by600-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/meshell.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Loma-House-Edmonton-Bento-Box-800by600-250x167.jpeg 250w, https:\/\/meshell.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Loma-House-Edmonton-Bento-Box-800by600-150x100.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Loma House\u00a0would be our second last food stop before heading out of town, and on to the rest of our adventure, and maybe that was part of it too. The touch of gloom of leaving &#8220;home.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The next day our Carmobile was scheduled for its first oil change (as we had managed to hit over 8000km by then, half of which was accomplished during our road trip up until that point.) We would be leaving immediately afterward\u00a0the car was tuned up\u00a0to drive south to Drumheller, and then finally ending the night\u00a0in Calgary.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Samiras Wake Up from Cora's Breakfast\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/prairiev\/20171852826\/in\/album-72157645740351143\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/351\/20171852826_3ed94819fe_z.jpg\" alt=\"Samiras Wake Up from Cora's Breakfast\" width=\"640\" height=\"362\" \/><\/a><script src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>We ate\u00a0at Cora&#8217;s with my parents that morning, conveniently, it&#8217;s a restaurant that was close to the dealership AND a spot with a breakfast option I actually really like. You wouldn&#8217;t necessarily expect a chain to have such a solid raw-veg option, but I&#8217;m always pretty excited about the\u00a0Samira&#8217;s Wake Up fruit plate (and so is my mom.) It also comes with toast if you want it &#8211; with all the peanut butter you can eat.
