The food was delicious and hearty, with rich satisfying flavours.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"V's Caribbean Vegetarian to go by MeShell, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/prairiev\/16924464436\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7636\/16924464436_b98f8bd4ee_z.jpg\" alt=\"V's Caribbean Vegetarian to go\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This week, I went back again with a friend, and had a full and amazing plate of food &#8211; The Pong Special (named after one of their chefs) which is the perfect plate for indecisive or hungry people that want to try a little bit of everything V&#8217;s Caribbean has to offer (and I highly recommend it so you can find your own favourites!)<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"V's Vegetarian Pong Special. by MeShell, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/prairiev\/17031138147\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7675\/17031138147_5ff6ab2af5_z.jpg\" alt=\"V's Vegetarian Pong Special.\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Almost everyday &#8211; the folks at V&#8217;s post their menu for the day on Instagram &#8211; so if you follow them, suddenly when they open there is a series of posts of their various mouthwatering stews and other dishes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Today they had:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cauliflower &amp; Lima bean stew<\/li>\n<li>Curry TVP (textured veggie protein) chunks<\/li>\n<li>Steamed\/fried callaloo<\/li>\n<li>Curried chickpeas &amp; potatoes<\/li>\n<li>Maple jerk tofu (which was straight up incredible)<\/li>\n<li>Creamy fried Bammies (aka cassava) and steamed okra<\/li>\n<li>Basmati rice &amp;\u00a0peas<\/li>\n<li>Spiced baked mash\u00a0potatoes (omg)<\/li>\n<li>Mixed veggies \u00a0(onions, cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, peas, carrots, more)<\/li>\n<li>Desserts &#8211; like vegan donuts<\/li>\n<li>Soups &#8211; porridge and pea soup<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the moment &#8211; they are cash only, but it sounds like they plan to have debit eventually. They&#8217;re currently open Tuesday thru Saturday, until 7pm (but they might extend it as the days get longer, so give them a call to double check if you&#8217;re curious.)<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;ve been open for a bit under 2 months, but it&#8217;s looking really good. It&#8217;s really nice to have some vegan-friendly Caribbean cuisine just straight north from where I live. There is street parking, and it is very transit accessible.
