A friend from Saskatoon, my former <a title=\"Rosebud Burlesque Club\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rosebudburlesque.com\/home.htm\">Rosebud Burlesque<\/a> instructor, and former Toronto resident connected me with a local veg foodie &#8211; Emily Z, and it seems she is often the vegan food chef extraordinaire at the supper club.<\/p>\n<p>The supper club isn&#8217;t all vegan all the time, but they do seem to alternate events. JC was especially excited about the BYOB. (okay, I&#8217;m a little excited too.)\u00a0Supper club memberships cost $40 and include the cost of the meal. Memberships are only valid for one day so the way it works is that you &#8220;renew&#8221; your membership each time you attend the club. Nice huh?<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Drop-In Dinner at Depanneur by MeShellG, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/prairiev\/6866777804\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7080\/6866777804_e4c0ab3ecf.jpg\" alt=\"Drop-In Dinner at Depanneur\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>We checked it out a taste on Thursday, at <a title=\"The Depanneur\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thedepanneur.ca\/\">the Depanneur<\/a> (1033 College St, Toronto), for the <a title=\"the Facebook Event page\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/336596196391059\/\">Drop-In French Lentil Soup, Salad, and Sourdough<\/a>. Delicious Lentil Soup with chard and veggies. A toasted herb and onion fougasse from \u00a0Sara Lapell of\u00a0<a title=\"Nice Buns Bakery on Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Nice.Buns.Bakery\">Nice Buns<\/a> paired with garlic earth balance and a side of organic greens (spiralized beets &amp; carrots included).<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Lentil-Chard Soup, by MeShellG, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/prairiev\/7009892865\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7260\/7009892865_c6fd2a061b.jpg\" alt=\"Lentil-Chard Soup,\" width=\"500\" height=\"374\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We topped it off with housemade soda &#8211; JC got the blackcurrent cherry soda, and I got the maple lemonade soda. While he thinks he won the soda contest that night, I really liked the maple lemonade. Though it did remind me slightly of the Master Cleanse lemonade (for better or worse).<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"maple lemonade soda and blackcurrent cherry by MeShellG, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/prairiev\/7009891613\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7246\/7009891613_c2286abf12.jpg\" alt=\"maple lemonade soda and blackcurrent cherry\" width=\"374\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m hoping to make it to the next two Depanneur\/Supper Club events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drop-in Dinner: <a title=\"Drop in dinner event on Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/183842898397741\/\">Hearty Jamaican Soup with Spelt Dumplings<\/a> (omg yum) &#8211; $10<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/326027174111245\/\">April Fool&#8217;s Vegan-o-rama with Emily Zimmerman<\/a> (I hope the &#8220;April fool&#8217;s&#8221; isn&#8217;t the addition of bacon to everything. ha ha ha.) which includes okara cakes with spring greens and horseradish aioli, a leek and wild mushroom galette, kale(!!!), vegan Waldorf salad, and as usual, I&#8217;m very excited about dessert &#8211; Yuzu Cr\u00e8me br\u00fbl\u00e9e and miso-matzoh toffee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One other benefit of finding out about these awesome events is that I have an extra reason to go to the <a href=\"http:\/\/dufferinpark.ca\/market\/wiki\/wiki.php\">Dufferin Grove Farmers Market<\/a> this Thursday (or any Thursday). Kalmplex, the person doing the Hearty Jamaican Soup drop-in dinner, has a vegan Jamaican patty stand there every week. Completely looking forward to trying it out!<\/p>\n<p>I also really enjoyed the Depanneur. They have lots of nice local products, and seem to run as a cafe during the day.
