<\/p>\nOh Vegan MoFo. You sneak up on me nearly every year. Except this one. I’m ready for you this year. Kind of. Maybe.<\/p>\n

For the people I’ve never met before (HI!), I’m MeShell, I like cats, baking, technology, and social justice related things with a focus on food education\/empowerment\/etc. I live with my fiance JC, and our two cats Emmie and Kes, in Toronto, Ontario.<\/p>\n
I have lived all over Canada, and I’m originally from Edmonton, Alberta. Some people might have heard of Prairie Vegan<\/a> (which has since spun off into a different project), but that was my first ever vegan food blog.<\/p>\n You can follow this blog on facebook<\/a>, me personally on twitter<\/a>, instagram<\/a>, and a bunch of other places on the top right hand side of this website (& if you’re using a reader… please – tell me which one you’re using, I still haven’t found one I like as much as google reader.)<\/p>\n My theme this month is going to be primarily about vegan weddings – specifically mine (it’s happening in October), but also, vegan related wedding topics in general.<\/p>\n I love the food traditions involved in weddings around the world, so I’ll be veganizing at least one traditional wedding food item a week, and sharing it with you.<\/p>\n I’m going to give this VeganMoFo month a good honest effort. My goals are to comment on at least 10 blogs a day, and especially outside of my normal blog reading circle, and to post something on the blog everyday. I’m looking forward to discovering new people and blogs over the next month, and I hope you are looking forward to it too.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For now, if you are planning a vegan wedding there are some vegan-specialized resources you can take advantage of:<\/p>\n First of all, there is Rose Pedals Vegan Weddings<\/a>\u00a0– It’s a one stop shop for vegan related weddings, wedding inspiration, dresses, stories, and everything else.<\/p>\n VegNews puts out an annual Vegan Wedding Issue<\/a>. You can get inspiration from the couples and their experiences. There are couple stories online as well.<\/a><\/p>\n They also made a little guide on planning a vegan wedding<\/a>.<\/p>\n As did Vegan Mainstream<\/a>.<\/p>\n I did not always find these super duper helpful, but that doesn’t mean they wont be helpful to you:<\/p>\n I read the Everything Vegan Wedding book<\/a>, and it was ok for some aspects, but wasn’t really something I got a lot out of. The discussion of peace silk being acceptable, or some of the really budget focused ideas lost me a bit, but that said, I think it’s still worth reading, if you’re going to read a wedding planning book.<\/p>\n Offbeat bride doesn’t focus on vegan weddings, and most of the “vegan” weddings<\/a> they highlighted were only kinda plant-based-ish (beware of pork…)? \u00a0But the site was some what useful when putting together our plan. Simply by planning a vegan wedding… we’re a little “offbeat”.<\/span><\/p>\nThe Theme<\/h2>\n
