Just a handy list of vegan and vegan-friendly events including fundraisers, panel discussions, demonstrations, food justice focused conversations, race and food, amongst others. I endeavor to only add events from groups and organizations that I know have reasonable community accountability and offer safe spaces.
Events are primarily in Toronto, but also include events around Ontario, Northwestern New York State, Northern Michigan, and other places that are a short(ish) drive away.
I try and include venue accessibility information with every post. Not all events are accessible, but I will include that information wherever possible.
For local farmers market information please visit The Toronto Farmers Market Network for listings. Several Farmers Markets have specialized vegan vendors, in addition to offering all the beautiful local produce grown right here in Ontario.

Evergreen Brickworks Farmers’ Market
May 24, 2014 @ 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM
“The Evergreen Brick Works Farmers’ Market is more than a local food market. It is a celebration of the diverse communities working together to build a sustainable food system from the ground up.”
The EBW Farmers’ Market will:
- Engage local food producers and consumers.
- Share ideas to generate understanding of the environmental impacts of food choices.
- Inspire others and empower them to make positive changes.
- Promote organic and GMO-free foods, as well as markets where rural food producers and urban consumers both benefit from fair trade and a vibrant local food economy.
- Celebrate our diverse food traditions!
There are also a few regularly vegan-friendly vendors (and besides the obvious fruit and vegetable selling ones!) check out the full list of vendors here.
The Evergreen Brick Works page has their own notes on accessibility here: http://ebw.evergreen.ca/visit/accessibility.
Seating is provided throughout the site at bistro tables, benches and picnic tables. In the Young Welcome Centre and the Centre for Green Cities building, accessibility features include an elevator, accessible single-stall washrooms, automated door openers, and Braille signage in the elevators and conference centre. The accessible washroom is located on the ground floor, with accessible stalls located in the washrooms of each of the five floors.
There is parking on site – it’s $6.
You can also take the TTC to Broadview Sation and take the shuttle bus for free.
There is a shuttle bus equipped with a wheelchair lift and tie-down from Broadview Station (which has elevators and escalators). The bus can also accommodate one stroller or large assistive device per trip.
At this time (29/03/2014), there is a note on the accessibility page that not all of their shuttle buses are equipped with wheelchair access features. They suggest other options which include the Wheel-Trans transit stop at Brickworks, or the 28A Davisville bus from the TTC (Saturdays only).
Disclaimer: I (usually) have nothing to do with organizing these events. Incorrect information or omissions may occur but I have tried my best to be as accurate as possible. Please check the original event posting for the most up to date information.
This is partially a personal calendar of convenience, but also a calendar of events others might also be interested in. If there are any events that should appear on this (or that I might be interested in) please let me know!
Accessibility notes are added to most events – where I know or can find the information. If you have more accurate information, please let me know!
