End of #VeganMoFo – Vegan Wedding Edition – Weirdest Giveaway? You’re Invited.

So, as you may know, JC and I are getting married in October.

We have a lovely venue booked, the menu has been planned out, the ceremony has been written, invitations have gone out (& RSVPs have even come back), dresses and suits have been purchased and fitted and talked about, flowers have been booked, hair and make up appointments are set, and everything is mostly ready to go.

JC and I have been playing with this idea for a while, especially since we do know a few people would like to attend the relative novelty of an entirely vegan wedding even though they don’t particularly know us much beyond this blog, or twitter, or facebook, or just vaguely within the community.

So you’re invited.

Youre-invited

And I’m not kidding. (phew… I’m really not kidding am I?)

Please leave a comment and tell us why you’d want to attend, and from those comments, we’ll pick our favourites. Please make sure to write in a valid email address where we can contact you.

This is open to anyone awesome 18+ that will find themselves in Toronto, Ontario on October 13, 2013.

Dear Friends & Family who are already invited

Please know that we absolutely love you, and we’re really glad you’re coming to our wedding. You are really important to us, and that’s why we invited you, and hoped you would join us on our special little day.

I hope you don’t feel that having some enthusiastic vegan wedding crashers takes away from that, because if anything, it just makes the ceremony and event even more “us”.

  1. Oh man! This is such a nice giveaway! I would love to come (really would!) but I have a good friend’s wedding that weekend…and another the next weekend…and I just had one last weekend! I love weddings so much. I didn’t for a long time, but once my friends started getting married, the joy was infectious and now I just love going to weddings. And DANCING! I love dancing the entire time.

Congratulations to you and your future spouse!

  2. How fun! I’ll actually be visiting my parents in Detroit at the time (I live in Japan right now), and I would totally come to a wedding in Toronto! I have a friend who can tag along too, if you’re interested.

    Congratulations!

  3. I’m glad that everything’s going well now! I can’t wait to see your upcoming wedding photos & after thoughts in October. It will be interesting after reading all of your planning and dress pick! What an awesome invitation – I would love to attend and meet you guys one day and of course Toronto if that is possible, but I’ll be stuck here in Argentina until November. My partner’s family will be visiting and we will be showing them around. Have a fabulous time, be you, and enjoy the most of it! Take a break from blogging, too!

  4. I love that you’re doing this!!! I would definitely “apply” but I will be out of town that weekend.

By the way, I got a couple challahs from SFTH for the high holidays and they were delicious! Very well received, even among the non-vegans. Tasted like challah! I bet they would make you a giant challah if you’re still considering it.

    • Hey Casandra, we actually ordered a super challah from them for the reception!

I’m pretty excited about trying it – because I still haven’t tried their regular sized ones. šŸ˜€

  5. This is an extremely generous giveaway! I’ve been looking at this since you posted it … thinking, “Man, that’s nifty” …Asking my partner “Wouldn’t that be fun?!”, wondering if we are the kind of people who would be fun crashers, if we’re outgoing enough (assuming it would allow a +1), if I’d have something to wear, if I could get off work early enough that day (scheduled til 6)… I’ve been vegan for 9 years, and although I change my thoughts around whether or not I’ll get married some day, I really enjoyed all your wedding posts (because if I dooo end up marrying, I’ll be scrolling back to these posts for reference) – and although this wasn’t posed as a “what will you do for us” giveaway, I would definitely hook you up with plenty of “Free ‘Creamy’ Vegan Alfredo” and any other Soul to Bowl Sauce coupons as a thank you. I considered writing this ‘application’ as a rap (well, ’cause that’s fun), but alas, too many finicky thoughts to creative-it-up too much. In conclusion, CONGRATS!!

  6. Okay, so I’m not going to lie – the instant we saw this post, Aaron and I were both like “Oh man we want to go!!!”

After all, we all share a common love of Graceful Vegetarian, Tori’s Bakeshop, Bunner’s and well…probably about a dozen other vegan hotspots in Toronto. In fact, I’m surprised we haven’t bumped into each other at one of them yet!

5 years ago when we got married, we weren’t vegan (I know, shame…) but we often say that at our 10 year anniversary we’d like to do a vow renewal, complete with a kick-a** vegan party. So really, this would be great a great exercise in the art of scientific exploration and research (and who are we to say no to science?)

Basically, here’s why we’d love to attend:
    1. We’re vegan. You’re vegan.
    2. We love weddings and seeing two people so in love sharing the most amazing day.
    3. We’re in Toronto and already have a babysitter on call (and we need a night out!!!)
    4. For the first time EVER, I can eat ANY DESSERT I want from the sweet table. That alone is worth the price of admission! LOL!
    5. It would be super awesome to actually meet you in person.

Whether we are there with you in person or in spirit, we wish you and JC a lifetime of love, laughter and good eats!

  7. Hi!

What a unique and amazing offer! When my fiancĆ© and I saw this, we were instantly attracted to the idea. As you may recall from twitter (Iā€™m @vegeta_vita), weā€™re recently engaged and are in the midst of planning a vegan wedding ourselves. If weā€™re not too late in replying (only 4 days away, you must be so excited!!!), and if you would have us, we would absolutely love to attend! Reasons? Well, the idea gathering that would take place is obviously quite appealing. I imagine being at your wedding would be incredibly helpful in planning our own. I also think it would be great to meet you in person! As a pretty passionate vegan, I tend to get very excited upon meeting other vegans. I know so many on the internet, but so few in real life. I thoroughly enjoy your twitter and your blog and would love the chance to meet you offline. There is also the excitement of attending a completely vegan event, in a world where we too often find ourselves ordering the salad (ā€œwithout the cheese, pleaseā€) or the pasta with red sauce off non-vegan menus, being presented with a whole array of foods we that can enjoy is, of course, a lovely experience. And we (especially I) love weddings!!! The beauty, the tear jerking speeches, the friendship, the love, the music, the planning that goes into little details that showcase the distinctive tastes and style of the couple and, most importantly, the fact that a whole room of people are gathered together for the sole purpose of celebrating your love! Just wonderful.

We would be so honoured to be included in the group of people that gathers to celebrate you and JC this weekend. But either way, we offer you both our Congratulations and the best of wishes!
