Guest Post: JC and Vegan Swap – Thanks Jill!

In the grand tradition of leaving things to the last minute, I just finished filing my taxes for last year. Something was nagging me that I also needed to do, and MeShell reminded me I hadn’t completed my other, much more important task before it’s midnight deadline – writing about my Vegan Swap experience!

I send my goodies off to The Vegan Lisa earlier this month, which I had a great time putting together. I hope she enjoyed receiving it as much as I did it putting it together and sending it. It gave me a chance to explore some unique elements of Vegan cuisine (marshmallows?!), as well as to reach back into my childhood for inspiration.

I was lucky enough to get Jill, better known from the awesome Vegan Cuts. If anyone knows her way around Vegan goodies, it’s Jill. She really out did herself with her package.

The package!

I found this waiting for me when I came home from work. A little squish test and it was clearly filled to the brim. No padding here. Opening it and my suspicions were confirmed – veritable cornucopia of Vegan goodies were waiting for me.

Which might not make sense, but there are so many similarities between programming languages, that eventually some of them blend into one language and from there frustration. In any case, I though it would be worthwhile to try the social learning method available through Ladies Learning Code (LLC). And once I saw that they were offering a python course I signed up immediately. Continue reading

CN Tower Climb for the WWF – Complete!

I managed to raise just under $500 for the WWF (though, feel free to add more!) and climbed to the very top with surprisingly little grumbling.

CN Tower

I arrived at around 8:30, the tower and surrounding area were full of people and bustling with energy. Some people had already finished the climb (registration started at 6am!) as I was arriving, and it got me wondering if anyone ever did it more than once in a day (perhaps next year will be the year to find out and do it myself?)
